Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience?
What aspects of your opening appeal to the target audience?
- The college setting: A vast majority of teens can relate to being in an educational institution. It is where most teenagers spend most of their days, so they can relate a lot to the college environment in Vamp. Not only this, but the stereotypes and certain situations will also be something they can connect with.
- Mis-en-scene: The clothes Carlos and Michael wear are typical teenage clothes - hoodies, jeans, backpacks. It is costume my audience will be familiar with.
- Actors: As the actors are all young and the same age as our target audience, this is definitely an appealing convention. As well as relating to them in the film, they can get involved in the actors real lives strenghening the consumer-producer relationship and getting involved with the film outside the on screen movie.
How would the Vamp Twitter page reach our target audience?
Firstly, the target audience of Vamp (teenagers 13-19) are big social media users. Twitter is something almost every young person uses, and some would say it has even taken over Facebook. With hashtags and trends it is so easy to see what everyones saying worldwide. By having a Vamp Twitter page, it will be so easy to post sneak peeks, exclusive behind the scenes content and just interact with our target audience in general, thus taking a crucial step in building that vital strong producer-consumer relationship.

Exclusive screening for students
There was an exclusive screening for students one day after the release date. This was done because students make up almost all of our target audience. By offering a free screening, it would boost our movies signal. The more people who see it, the more they tell other people about it. This is how our audience can expand, and ultimately we would reach more people!
The screening would happen in 5 Vue cinemas across London. I chose Vue because they are established and well known, like our producer and distributor.

Premiere article:
I made a premiere article for Vamp in OK magazine. This will appeal more to the grls of our target audience, as the magazine is targetted at girls. By doing an article of the premiere, this allows more people to hear about it, gaining potential fans. The article also talks about the stars of the film, which takes the actors from just being in the film to real life people, something that always strengthens fanbases.
Rough Cut Feedback: How did it help?
The rough cut feedback was very constructive. One of the main things was to cut out the excessive establishing shots at the beginning. I am so glad my group and I decreased the length and amount of the street shots as it made our opening look so much more proffessional, and overall the opening was much more effective - and less boring!
